The Emotion SFX Project: Embarrassment
Embarrassment, an emotion we have all felt. I myself have struggled with this more than I would like to admit. When I have the misfortune to suffer from embarrassment my entire face instantly flushes into a bright red closely resembling a bad sunburn. I lose control of hope I have of keeping my thoughts private. Everyone knows my reaction.
I tried to display those feelings in this project. This was a simple design using only my regular foundation routine, blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, and creme makeup.
I have naturally pale skin so it is easy to show contrast with even lighter toned colors like pink. I layered a natural soft pink blush on top of my foundation until it resembled how hot my cheeks feel when I am embarrassed.
Then I used dark and light pinks from my eyeshadow pallet to really give some depth to my eyes.
To make a more defining look I added soft pink and bright red creme paints around my eyes to make them look swollen. I even put a little bit of red creme paint on my eyelashes just for a more complete look.
I finished up by lightly blending red creme paint around the edges of my face and all over my neck.
Embarrassment is defined as, "a feeling of self-consciousness, shame, or awkwardness."When the shame hits, when your heart falls, you suffer the immediate consequences. A red face, clammy hands, possibly even teary eyes. Your throat hurts, your stomach plummets, your world crashes around you for a brief moment.

This resembles the way it feels when all the blood rushes to your face in the heat of the moment.
I used a blue background because it's often a color known for resembling sadness or loneliness which is how it feels when you become embarrassed. Everything in your world seems to only focus on that one embarrassing moment.
You can also see in the above photo that I had been crying. I would like to make it clear that I did not fake these tears but they were also not intentional! (Though they do add to the drama of the project). They were caused because of a reaction to the creme paint I had put around my eyes. So please be careful when using products near your eyes!
